I want to say a very big thankyou to all those who helped us organise and get through the Gala Day on Sunday. It was incredibly hot and I would ask that all team reps please pass on our thanks to their scorers and coaches on the day, as it must have been very tiring for those not in shade.
I particularly wish to thank those of you who ended up with quite big tasks such as BBQ, Canteen and ground set up. All went according to plan and it wouldn’t have worked without everyone pitching in. Again, thanks for doing your part with the raffle and most of all, coming along on the day – we hope the players all had a good time.
A special acknowledgement and thank you to the organising team.
Russell Johnson, joint co-ordinator who worked so very hard on all the planning stages, including singlehandedly printing and distributing all the raffle tickets to the teams prior to the day, which made such a big impact in terms of overall ticket sales. For sharing all the worry with me and coming along very early on the day to help with set up, even though his child was not able to play.
Angela Cowan who did such a masterful job on registration and terrific ideas and feedback through all planning stages. Richard Glover, again for lots of help during organisation and sorting out the BBQ. Don Chudleigh and the Glebe Greyhounds AFL Club for providing the BBQ equipment and tent.
Karen Sykes who helped with ground details and the unenviable task of sorting the draw.
Mark and Terry who answered lots of questions we had throughout the process.
We were successful in our goal of raising funds for the club.
Finally, thanks to all those players and parents for supporting the day and thanks to everyone that I missed out above.
Clare Craven.
